Assemblages

Assemblage is an approach to making that suggests a more open set of metaphors than rigid or linear approaches to visual vocabularies. Strategies like mosaic, patchwork, heterogeneity, fluidity, transitory configurations, collaboration, and the adhoc, cut closer to making as ritual. And this seems like a more realistic way of characterizing the kind of making that appeals to me living in a pluralistic society.
