Paintings

Andrew Robinson’s painting can be interpreted on several different levels. They are objects as well as images that move from abstract to figurative; painted with great expressive urgency and a graphic edge. A succession of paintings operates like a network of emotional signs, where one painting offers a sense of calm, while another may slip into an operatic crescendo. He is interested in the psychological and metaphysical properties of the images that surround us. They are taken from memory, history, political, social and mystical sources, and reimagined through a visual vocabulary that evokes a new way in which everyday images convey a revisionist picture of the world.
